Nursing & Quality Services
Situated on the second floor of the main ward block. Nursing & Quality Services is comprised of the following sub-units:
Nursing
Provides a professional nursing consultancy service for staff and management, including clinical practise standards, policy development, professional growth and development, nursing workforce planning and management, intravenous management education and consultancy service.
Nurses at Tairawhiti District Health report to their nurse unit manager for orientation, rostering, performance, training applications, general support and guidance in day to day work and professional development.
Standards for Nursing Practise have been drawn up to guide quality, contemporary patient-focused care and ensure nursing practise complies with the NZ Code of Health and Disability Consumers rights. All nurses and midwives are expected to be familiar with those standards and to embrace them in their practise.
The Clinical Nurse Educator plans and provides training and education in response to identified needs and changes in service delivery. A number of Tairawhiti District Health nurses are engaged in extramural study which is encouraged and supported.
