There is a structured orientation to the Tairawhiti DHB NETP Programme and to the RN graduates' clinical placement.
Each RN graduate has an assigned preceptor(s) who has completed an approved training programme. Preceptors, and other members of the clinical team, work alongside RN graduates to support goal setting and opportunities for reflection.
RN graduates are also supported by the NETP coordinator and the nurse educators and preceptors in clinical areas.
The NETP programme offers a formal, structured and supported learning programme. There are 12 designated education days over the programme and 16 hours of development session time with their preceptor(s).
RN graduates are required to submit a portfolio at a competent RN level prior to exiting the programme, as per Tairawhiti DHB PDRP. Information and guidance regarding the PDRP is given to participants throughout the year on study days. Support is available from the NETP Coordinator and the TDH Nurse Educator.
Ongoing employment with the Tairawhiti District Health Board or coommunity employers is subject to graduates meeting the requirements of the programme and the availability of vacancies at the time of completing the NETP programme.
